Built for the ones who made it out.
Pathway is a bridge — connecting foster youth 18 and older to the Samaritans already out there: the organizations, volunteers, churches, and neighbors across DFW who show up for young people starting over.
No one should have to navigate this alone.
Every year, thousands of young people age out of the foster care system in Texas. If that is where you have been - welcome to Dallas and Fort Worth - DFW. It's as big as the state of Connecticut with nearly 9 million people.
Pathway exists to link you to new experiences — not by replacing the hard work of navigating life, but by making the first steps clearer. We gather real resources, write plain instructions, and add the kind of tips a trusted older sibling would give you. One important lesson to learn from your life as an adult - CASH FLOW will determine how comfortable you can be day by day. You can learn many things at different companies - most of all Get Paid. Save some of every pay check for emergencies.
We believe that knowing where to start is half the battle. Our understanding of the battle began at The Church of the Incarnation where we are members. The other half is yours. Like us you may find attending a church helps with life's challenges. If you look carefully, you may notice churches along the bus routes that take you to a college or a job. You may find a mentor or guide. BE an observer - make assessments... do this at work, at college, on the bus or at church.
If any of this sounds like you, you're in the right place.
- You recently aged out of foster care or are about to turn 18
- You're looking for housing, food, work, or health resources in Texas
- You've been told to figure it out without being shown how
- You want practical steps, not just a list of phone numbers
- You know someone who needs this and want to pass it along
A bridge needs two sides. We built one of them.
The word Samaritan matters here. In the parable, the Samaritan did not fix the whole road. He did not build a shelter or start a program. He stopped, he helped, and he made sure the traveler could keep going. That is what hundreds of people across DFW are doing right now — quietly, consistently, without headlines.
Pathway exists because those Samaritans — the case managers, the church volunteers, the food bank workers, the housing counselors — are already out there. The problem is not a lack of help. The problem is that the traveler on the road cannot always see them. This site is the bridge between the two.
The name Pathway, the bridge and road in our logo — those are intentional. You are on a path. We are here to help you see what is ahead and who is standing along the way ready to help. The Samaritans are real. We just help you find them.
Know a resource we're missing?
This hub grows because people share what helped them. If you know of a program, org, or service that should be here — tell us.
